Yitzhak Rabin (1922-1992) Israeli politician, statesman, and General. He was the Fifth Prime Minister of Israel serving 2 terms 1974-1977 and 1992-1995. He had a 27 year career as a soldier and was appointed Chief of the General Staff in 1964. He oversaw Israel's victory in the 1967 Six Day War. He served as Ambassador the the United States from 1968-1973. In 1994 he won the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1995 whilst still Prime Minister, he was assassinated by extremist Yigal Amir.

 

Letter dated 1st October 1976 from Prime Minister Yltzhak Rabin to the Chairman of the preparatory Committee of the World Movement of North Africans.

 

"Thank you for the invitation you sent me to attend the opening ceremony of the conference of the World Executive Committee of your movement.

 

Although i will not be able, unfortunately, to attend the opening night with you, I would like to convey my best wishes to all at this world conference and wish you all fertile discussions and positive results In all areas on the agenda.
